The Vampire Diaries’ Season 3 is shaping up to be quite a treat! Not only do we have ripper Stefan, ghostly Anna and Vicki, and a soapy Damon to look forward to, Joseph Morgan (Klaus) says we’re also headed for a family reunion of the hybrid variety. Get ready to flashback to the 1800s and meet the parents!
Morgan told Entertainment Weekly, “We get a chance to go back and see the point where they became vampires and where the curse was placed on Klaus to suppress his hybrid nature, his hybrid side.”
But that isn’t the only time we’ll see the O.V.s in action. Slowly but surely, more Originals will make their way to Mystic Falls, and Morgan says “it’ll be interesting” to watch almighty Klaus deal with vamps who are even more supreme. (Could one of them be the bigger baddie Julie Plec referenced?)
Nina Dobrev (Elena) also spilled some spoilery details to EW about an upcoming Elena and Alaric (Matt Davis) “adventure” that leaves TVD’s sweetheart “sweaty” and in need of cooling off. The trip will also provide ample bonding time and “a lot of comic relief” on Alaric’s end, Nina said.
Something tells us this isn’t just an ordinary hike in the woods. Is Alaric training Elena in the ways of vampire hunting?
Throughout The Vampire Diaries’ second season, the name “Klaus” was akin to that of a “big bad wolf.” Turns out, the warning was only half right. A half-werewolf, half-vampire hybrid, Klaus is also one of the original vampires in the Vampire Diaries world.
Klaus is played by Joseph Morgan, who sat down with several media outlets at Comic-Con roundtables to talk about what Klaus is up to and how that plan involves Stefan.
So where do things pick up for Klaus when the show comes back?
I don’t know if I’m speaking out of school to say this, but I’ve already said it: It starts a couple of months from where we left off, so obviously Klaus has taken Stefan under his wing and whisked him away on a path of corruption. We’re going to see what’s going on with those characters. They’re not in Mystic Falls at the moment. We’re going to see a little more of that, and also, I think a lot’s going to happen in a few months. We’re going to really see a darker side of Stefan as well; how far Klaus has corrupted him and how far he’s willing to go.
As the series goes on, we’ll learn a lot more about Klaus’s motives for bringing Stefan along. He’s not just done it on a whim; there’s a goal behind it. There’s a plan there. We’re going to certainly find out a lot more about that.
Do you think there’s romance in Klaus’s future?
I hope so. I’ve been subtly trying to nudge Julie and Kevin towards that. I think it would be interesting to see a slightly more vulnerable side to Klaus, to see how he would react to someone who he cared about, who he wasn’t just trying to manipulate for his own needs. I think it would be interesting to see what kind of he person would choose. Would he be with a witch, or a werewolf, or would he fall for a human? Would he learn something? I don’t know. So yeah. I’m pushing for it. I’d like to think he’d be with a werewolf. I think it would be interesting with some feisty animalistic werewolf girl, so there’s this kind of crazy, rough relationship.
On July 28, Ian Somerhalder took a break from Mystic Falls to represent the Multinational Species Coalition. Species conservation is an issue Ian is passionate about, and we imagine he won over some hearts and minds with his pleas.
Brace yourselves, Stelena ‘shippers: The Vampire Diaries’ executive producer Kevin Williamson talked to The Hollywood Reporter all about his wishes for the star-crossed couple in Season 3, and the man is clearly on Team Damon.
“The one thing I do want to see filmed and I’ll say it because it hasn’t happened yet and it may never happen,” Williamson said, “but I do want to see — and I will go on the record to every Stelena fan in the world — I do want to see Damon and Elena get it on.” Ooh la la!
As for executive producer Julie Plec? “No comment and no timeline,” she said. Aww, come on! At least we’ve got one producer on our side, right?
While Plec may be staying mum, we’re still crossing our fingers (and our toes) for a steamy scene between the IRL lovers.
As for what’s actually on the agenda for Season 3, Plec assures us we’ll discover Stefan and Klaus ‘ whereabouts — and exactly what they’ve been up to. (We’re guessing it involves a lot of corpses.) In fact, they’re shooting a Klaus/Stefan-centric scene as we speak in a “very, very, very rural farmhouse,” Plec says.
Mystic Falls is getting crowded! The Vampire Diaries is casting another new face, but this time it’s a female — and a witch.
The latest addition is named Gloria and although she’s in her 60s, she’s supposedly still uber-sexy — but only because the witch has the very special ability to slow down the aging process. Um, where can we sign up for that magical power?
We’ll first see Gloria when Stefan and Klaus track her down at the swanky bar she owns to ask for her help. While she recalls Stefan’s face, she’s more shocked to see Klaus (and, uh, who wouldn’t be?) Unfortunately for the bad boys, Gloria doesn’t agree to lend them a hand and kicks the devilish duo back out on the streets. Later, Damon goes to the same bar and chats with Gloria about what’s really going on with Stefan (e.g., that he’s become a maniacal, bloodsucking badass… not unlike someone else we know).
